Every five years or so, the National Diet and Nutrition Survey ( NDNS) in the UK reminds us what we are eating and tells us if we are getting it right. The latest of these surveys is currently underway under the auspices of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and has revealed some interesting facts.

The Latest News

Researchers found that contrary to expectations, the UK population is at least 14% more physically active than previously thought, and this gives us a wider margin with our calorie intakes. The shortfall is 350 calories, or approximately 14% of a male adult's recommended intake. This equates roughly with the following snacks, although it should noted that the strength of alcoholic drinks varies widely (1).
