Food Group Diets
Over the years there have been many attempts to revolutionize the way that people eat to help enhance longevity live healthier lives. One of the diets that has begun a recent resurgence is the Paloe Diet. But is it a healthy diet?
The Paleo Diet
Also known as the Paleolithic Diet, the Caveman Diet and the Hunter Gatherer Diet, this program is controversial because it goes against much of conventional thought about what a healthy diet is for a typical human adult. The Paleo Diet is based on the diet of human beings in the Paleolithic era. This was the diet of nomadic and hunter gatherer societies that ate what was available to them at any given time. The primary foods were lean meats and fresh fruits, vegetables and plant life.
Modern Nutrition
The modern diet is focused on balancing all food groups including diary and excessive grains. According to statistics, 65% of adults are lactose intolerant and that drinking large amounts of milk can contribute to type 1 diabetes. Grains were not readily available to our Paleolithic ancestors because they lacked the agricultural system that we have today. Where we rely on breads, crackers, chips and cereals in our diets, it would have been hard to find and unnatural to them.
