Diet Fast Smash
Fighting games have long been considered some of the most addictive video games in arcades and on home consoles. Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64 reinvented the formula used in countless fighting games and did so quite successfully. This first game in the series isn’t as impressive as its GameCube and Wii successors, but it can’t be denied that Super Smash Bros. is definitely an iconic fighter.
Super Smash Bros. Gameplay
The major difference Super Smash Bros. has that alienates it from every other 2D fighting game is in its intuitive gameplay. Rather than forcing players to memorize combinations or button mash to pull off random moves, fighting in Super Smash Bros. is simple and relies on opponents literally pummeling one another, increasing the damage dealt, and sending each other flying off the stage.
Each character in the game—which spans several Nintendo franchises—has signature moves. For instance, Mario can throw fireballs, Fox can shoot his blaster, and Donkey Kong can deliver a devastating wind-up punch. In addition to these moves, characters can unleash strong smash moves that are used to knock opponents who have received extensive damage off the field of battle until they run out of lives.
